October 10, 2017 Swearing In

The meeting took place on the above date with Mayor Dooley calling the meeting to order at 7:20 p.m. with the following members were in attendance:

Mayor Dooley thanked everyone for their support during the past four years, as did Deputy Mayor Snooks and all Councillors. Mayor Dooley then turned the meeting over to the Town Clerk/Manager-Returning Officer.

The Town Clerk/Manager-Returning Officer began the swearing-in ceremony by expressing gratitude on behalf of all staff to the outgoing Council for their accomplishments and support during the past four years before dismissing them from their council seats. Highlighted some major projects completed during 2013-2017 and briefly covered some expectations of being an effective Council as stated within the Municipalities Act and Rules of Procedure.

The TCM-RO conducted the Swearing-In Ceremony, with all elected officials taking/signing the Oath of Office as follows: Jennifer Baker, Councillor Sharon Snooks, Councillor
Glenn Clarke, Councillor Kelly Loch, Councillor
Jennifer Moores, Councillor Gord Ash, Councillor
Barry Dooley, Mayor (Acclaimed)

The first regular meeting was called to order at 7:52 p.m. with the Town Clerk/Manager-Returning Officer calling for nominations for the Deputy Mayor’s position.

Councillors Baker/Snooks nominated Gord Ash for the Deputy Mayor’s position, who in turn accepted the nomination; with no other nominations put forward after being called three consecutive times, nominations ceased, with the TCM-RO acclaiming Gord Ash as Deputy Mayor for the Town of Victoria. TCM-RO turned the meeting over to Mayor Dooley.

Correspondence for Information
Mayor Dooley opened/read a letter from an Election Official, (Poll Clerk East Side L-Z) during the Municipal Election, who expressed thanks to the outgoing Council, congratulated the newly elected Council in addition to thanking the Returning Officer for a job well done with organizing and conducting the municipal election for the Town of Victoria.

All elected officials took the opportunity to say a few words regarding the recent election and express their expectations for the next four-year term.
